Rex Rattus left this review about The Haywain

There were three handpumps on the bar counter – two dispensing Spitfire and the other Ringwood Boondoggle. The Boondoggle was a decent summer ale, at £2.80 a pint or thereabouts. This is a large Brewers Fayre pub with all but a handful of tables set for diners. There must have been about 50 or so customers in there and as far as I could see I was the only one not there for a meal. The food is the usual pub grub stuff; in fact the place is reminiscent of a Harvester, but without the salad cart. They do the usual meal deals – two meals for £9, and a curry night on Thursday (why is it always Thursday?) giving a choice of seven curries and a pint of Carling for £6.99 (I think). Hardly good value if you have to drink a pint of Carling to qualify. The only good feature that I saw in the pub is a pair of delft style tiled murals.
There is a Premier Travel Inn behind the pub, from where I guess it gets a fair bit of its trade. In fact although the pub sits on the main road, to gain admission one has to walk all the way round to the back, where the entrance to the pub is opposite the Premier Travel Inn entrance. Personally I don’t think that it’s worth bothering with as a pub, but good enough if you want a cheap and cheerful Brewers Fayre meal.
