I was the only customer in the White Star during a recent Tuesday evening visit, but the friendly barmaid was very welcoming and up for a chat. I had a pint of Bass which was very well served. The toilets are a bit of a trek upstairs. I don’t think I saw this place at its best so I’ll pop back in again when passing.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The White Star

First visit to this fine side-street Titanic pub which features a slightly more modern layout in the various seating / dining areas around the L-shaped counter than one might expect from the traditional façade but in other respects it's quite traditional too. With five handpumps on each part of the counter, I found five of the brewery's own real ales, the regular Everard's Tiger and three guests - including A Ray of Sunshine from Dukeries (£3.30).

Fine Titanic pub with their usual selection of ales. Captain Smith @ 5.2% ABV was the pick of the lot. Definite revisit when I am in the area again.

This smart town centre pub is one of those that was given new life by Everard's Project William scheme, which allowed the local Titanic brewery to set it up as one of their initial outlets, since which it has become one of Stoke's top alehouses. You enter directly to the main bar area, with the servery in an L-shape to your right. There are bare floorboards through the centre of the pub and a few carpeted areas off of this. High banquettes fill the space opposite the bar under the front windows with standard tables and chairs in a small lounge-style space to the front left. As the bar runs towards the rear of the room, you pass a drinking ledge with a large blackboard above detailing the full ale range, before emerging into a carpeted rear area with a good mix of seating options arranged around a turquoise fireplace. A 'Titanic' clock hangs on the wall and some nice port-hole style frames have been used to display the names of the breweries core range of beers. This part of the room has unusual wallpaper depicting old letters, postcards, packaging labels and the like. There is another section of the pub, almost entirely invisible from the main bar area due to the fact that it runs behind the servery and is therefore obscured by the bar back. This area has lots of comfortable seating under a selection of Titanic themed pictures and seemed to be one of the cosier spots on offer, with lots of people here choosing to eat. Stairs lead up to the toilets, passing a fairly basic function room and several more impressive Titanic bits. I visited in the run up to a Stoke City home match and by not wearing colours I was easily able to ignore the 'Home Fans Only' signs and bag a table near the bar. There is a good pub grub menu available but despite only being an hour into service, they had already run out of my first choice, so I opted instead for a steak and ale pie, which I have to say was top class.
On the bar, the Titanic core range was displayed along one row of handpulls, whilst the seasonals and guest ales appeared down the other side of the bar. The full Titanic list on this visit was White Star, Plum Porter, Captain Smith, Steerage, Iceberg, Wreckage and Sea, with Everards Tiger and Roosters Baby Faced Assassin the other options. The White Star set me back £3.15 and was in top condition, whilst the bar staff seemed well drilled in dealing with football day crowds and were very friendly and helpful.
The Titanic pubs in and around Stoke are undoubtedly some of the real highlights for real ale drinkers but I thought this place offered more than just good beer. I found it to be a very warm, welcoming pub with lots of comfy seating, cheery service and some good proper pub food. My experience may well have been enhanced by the fact that the pub was nice and busy without being overcrowded and I might have felt a little differently had I visited at a quieter hour, but for me this is one of the top pubs in a city blessed with plenty of fine watering holes.

A Titanic brewery pub (which is actually leased to them via the lovely Everard’s Project William scheme). Is done-up to a modern, middle-class style rarely seen in these parts and is done pretty well, with a fair bit of character and the inevitable Titanic memorabilia. The interior is L shaped with a comfortable raised rear area. The main wood-floored bar holds 10 ales - 5 each over two sets of pumps, with guest beers on the right hand side. We decided to have a go at the Titanic beers and went through the lot – quality was pretty much exceptional all-round, with friendly service from the female bar staff. Busy on our Friday night visit with an iffy ‘doing it off my Ipad’ DJ. Clientele were on the younger side and a good deal of them were also on the local brew. We really enjoyed it here and this proved to be one of the weekend’s stand-out pubs. I’d heartily recommend doing this one.

This was quiet on my Saturday evening visit. Inside it's wooden floored with a raised area at the back. Despite the Cup Final going on there was no TV which was really welcome. There was also no music or fruit machines as far as I could tell.
The bar has two sets of five hand pumps all of which were in use. There were five Titanic beers, Everard's Tiger, Ilkley Black, Piddle Cocky Hop, York First Light and Cotleigh Old Buzzard. I went for the Plum Porter and White Star both of which were in good condition but I thought the weaker White Sar was a shadow of what it was several years ago.
Unsurprisingly it is GBG 2015 listed and is another good Titanic pub. I will definitely seek out some more of them.

Real Ale Ray left this review about The White Star

A very well kept pub, with friendly staff and top notch ales. Five from Titanic on one side of the bar and five guest round the other side, so a couple of Titanic were tried, Iceberg and Steerage. The two guests we went for were Signature Brewery Red Deal and Crouch Vale Blackwater Mild. All their ales were in perfect condition.
The pub had a lot of fine seating areas inside and adequate seating out front also. The pub is situated in a quiet part of town, but did not stop discerning drinkers visiting for refreshment. The pub has a good laid back atmosphere and there was no music playing on this visit.

An excellent all round town centre pub. A great ambience when empty (first in on a Thursday lunch!) and later when busier. The 5 Titanic Ales were so good, I stayed "Locale" and resisted the temptation to try any of the 5 guest ales.
Three business men on the next table ordered two fruit juices and a plain water. Obviously not wishing to mix business with pleasure! I hope they came back after work to see what they were missing.
My spicy chicken lunch wes excellent and very good value. I agree with most of the reviewers and give it maximum score. Definately my Pub of the Year so far.

The White Star is a three storey pub that is on a pedestrianised street in the middle of Stoke.
Once inside the pub had a single room that had different drinking areas, the bar was to the left and there was a raised area to the rear right which was cordened off,the pub was carpeted and had comfortable seating if you could get one.
This pub is a Titanic tied house and there was a decent choice of their beers on the bar,i had a drink of Titanic Steerage which was a really nice drink, the other beers i noted were White Star and Iceburg.
The pub was packed on my early evening vist with Stoke fans and people going for a night out,so why was a third of the pub out of use at such a busy time.
I would have enjoyed my time here if it was less busy and all of the pub was in use.
