Blue Scrumpy left this review about The Galley Of Lorne

The Galley of Lorne and the village of Ardfern is reached down a narrow road off the A816, which runs down alongside Loch Craignich. As luck would have it, my visit was only second day it had been open after a seasonal shutdown. However, opening hours are limited here to evenings only during the week. As such, my December visit was in the dark, meaning that I didn't get to appreciate the fine views of the loch and harbour that the pub enjoys.

A couple of handpulls were clipped, but both clips were reversed. After enquiring, I was told that Loch Lomond West Island Way was on, but the barmaid couldn't serve it, as she'd fractured her wrist! Being stumped by this, I was about to offer to come around the bar to pour it myself, until another lady appeared from a rear room to pour it. I think she was another staff member who wasn't actually on duty. Needless to say, I was most appreciative!

The bar itself has a slate floor, a real fire and a fruit machine, along with a pile of board games. Just 2 other customers and their dog were in. I didn't get to visit the lounge and restaurant. But I'd imagine the location of this place can make it quite popular and busy during the summer. During the winter, it lacked that bit of atmosphere.
