Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Staggs Bar (The Volunteer Arms)
The Volunteer Arms is a very traditional side street pub (although this is nominally part of the High Street), owned by the same family for over 150 years (and hence its alternative name). Mid-brown woodwork in the bar area, with lighter (and more modern) wood panelling in the rear snug. Justifiably in the Good Beer Guide, with an expansive array of Camra certificates in the corridor leading to another lounge bar at the back that is only used at the busiest times. We found five Oakham beers on the two banks of four handpumps on the main counter, plus Fyne Ales Jarl and Loch Lomond Silkie Stout. Well worth seeking out.
