A basic place a few minutes trot from the station. Small and sodium lit inside with a curved boxed wood bar, lino flooring and a burgundy and cream colour scheme. Some nice old mirrors on the wall brighten things up a bit, as do the old Edinburgh prints. Nicotine stained gig posters on the ceiling (Fringe events?), assume they’ve been up there the best part of 20 years. Thin tables, even by Edinburgh standards. I did notice some stairs but was unaware of there being a further room up them, though I know that now! Sadly there’s no cask here so a sub-standard Tennants had to do. It’s listed on the CAMRA inventory though it’s not the sort of place most people would rush to take in; this is basic, not opulence. Shame there wasn’t better beer on offer as there was a certain rough-and-ready charm to the place. 6.5

A horseshoe shaped bar serves a standard draught selection. A bit rough round the edges but nothing wrong with that. Not your typical tourist trap pub.

you would be mistaken for thinking you could only find a pub like this with the use of dr.whos tardis.this is not a critisism, but you will love/hate this place due to its charm/decrepit decor.mixed clientel and students.like an old music pub for bands(you could imagine the bay city rollers or slade playing here in there VERY early days).sure there is a small stage to the side of the bar and an upstairs area.worth at least one visit for the experience and drink is reasonably priced.Go on,you know you want to.
