Still a decent enough JDW , very busy on Saturday afternoon , but service was quick , tried a couple of festival ales Ramsey Village Elder and Henrys Young Henry both decent beers .
There are now 8 handpulls on the bar with the four at the front for the festival ales and the usual Abbott and Ruddles on a second set of four at the other end of the bar .

Visited again for a couple of beers and a quick snack. Discovered the downstairs bar this time in an old cellar vault. We knew there was a downstairs room, but didn't realise there was another quiet bar. Easy to get served and efficient food service. There were 3 of the festival beers on the bar as well and the Adnams Belgian Style Abbey Ale was in excellent nick. This is a good JDW.

By far the better of the two JDWs in Chester. This one has been nicely refurbished into a multi-roomed pub on three levels. Interesting decoration around the walls and a much higher class of customer than the Square Bottle and indeed many other JDW's. It was Sunday night though, so it probably gets rammed on Friday & Saturday. Four beers on the bar including a couple of guest ales which isn't bad for a Lloyds. We quite liked it in here and will certainly visit again next time we're in Chester, which we are regularly.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Forest House (Lloyds No 1)

Impressive conversion of very substantial Georgian townhouse. Bars on two levels, with a variety of seating and dining areas. A DJ booth is the only real clue that this branded as a Lloyds No. 1 Bar rather than a regular 'spoons. Four handpumps on each bar counter, with Greene King IPA, Abbot, Brains St Davids Ale and Spitting Feathers Blood, Sweat & Cheers available when I visited.

Oggwyn Great left this review about Forest House (JD Wetherspoon)

JDW Lloyds No 1 bar set in a large Georgian town house that was previously a nightclub , you enter up a flight of steps , a brass plate in the floor gives a brief history of the building , the bar is straight ahead , the main room of the pub is to the right with a balcony for smokers , to the left is another room partioned by a wall with a snug to the right of this , there are a set of stairs near the entrance leading to another small room , and stairs leading down to further rooms downstairs (cordoned off on my visit , opened when the pub is busy) the place is like a rabbit warren , there is a lot of dark wood paneling, glass partions and large mirrors give the impression of space , it is quite cosy in the smaller rooms unlike most JDWs . Four handpulls with the usual Abbot Ale , Ruddles etc plus one guest , Springhead Liberty which was decent enough . Overall its not to bad in here
