Steve C left this review about Corbieres

Corbieres is a cellar bar with a swirly pebbled bar counter on the right wall that faces bench seating along the left wall. Background music from the jukebox was playing to the handful of locals through a very poor quality sound system. Premium keg was available and the two hand pumps were drawing Shipyard IPA and Wainwright. At the side of the bar is a kitchenette that has enough room to maybe fry some chips. The service was polite, but I saw nothing here that would entice me back.

Popped in on Saturday. The only real ale was Theakston Lightfoot and JW Lees MPA (Manchester Pale Ale). Decided not to bother and left.

A very average cellar bar that advertises itself as "a Manchester secret/hidden gem" or something like that. And to be honest its best hidden. A fairly dull place that seems to be styled as a whitewashed cave. 2 handpumps on the bar, of which neither were of any interest, unless you like Dizzy Blonde. For those who like pinball its now a Star Wars one.

Greenfield from Greenfield brewery and Black Jack Shuffled Deck were the 2 beers on our latest vist with the Black Jack being in good nick. The pinball table is now the AC/DC one.

Both handpumps still on with the guest ale being from Greenfield on this visit. The Half Moon Bitter was in good nick as well.

They now have both handpumps on the go. Star Brewery Half Moon Bitter (Richard Bazens new brewery) and Tetleys bitter.

Manchester's finest subterranean drinking den? It certainly is. A hidden gem? Yes again, it's only difficult to find the first time though. It's not exactly a wine bar really. Whitewashed walls and a very cosy atmosphere during the day and early evening. Can be totally rammed on weekend nights though. They usually have only the one cask ale, Bazen's Pacific which is always on good form. Good selection of wines for the other half. A great indi jukebox AND a pinball machine. I only wish the other handpump was in use more often though. We almost always call in when we're in Manchester.

This is a subterranean bar with whitewashed and rounded walls. I didn’t spot any decor worth mentioning. What it did have is a pinball machine (Lord of the Rings), but my companions who are from Chicago, the ancestral home of the pinball machine, didn’t take to this particular one. But I watched a bit of play on the machine and it seemed to be working OK. I don’t particularly like cellar bars so would probably not visit again, but this one’s OK if you do like drinking in cellars.
