The Mail Coach is an old fashioned one bar traditional pub housed in the basement of an office building on the corner of Bishopsgate and Camomile Street.
Don’t come here if you’re looking for a flash, chrome plated trendy City Bar, because that’s exactly what this place isn’t.
It’s not very inviting from the outside, with a single street level door with not much to advertise that it is a traditional pub, and then a sizeable set of stairs which wind down to the bar.
Therefore it tends to be frequented by people who know it, which means it’s busy after work, but not manic like a lot of the nearby pubs are at 5.30PM on a weekday.
Nothing special internally decor wise, but comfortable enough with alcove seating on the far wall, and then additional tables and chairs on a carpeted area a in front of the main central bar area.
Also nothing special beer wise either, with the usual Guinness and Lager offerings. The bar does support three hand pumps, but two of these were Pride during my last vist, and as this went off almost immediately I got there, the remaining Pedigree wasn’t the best choice in the world.
But what does make this place special is that it supports one feature that may be unique within the square mile. It has three dart boards, which are so well designed into the sides of the pub, that you can have a sizeable crowd at each without them being obtrusive to the rest of the pub.
And these boards can be reserved in advance, so if you are looking for a place to play darts in The City after work, then The Mail Coach fits the bill nicely.

The Mail Coach is in the middle of the City and it is a proper pub.
This pub is a basement type place and you have to go down quite a few steps to get to the bar, once there the pub is carpeted and quite comfortable with normal tables and chairs.
There were two real ales on the bar i had a drink of Adnams Broadside and this was a decent drink the other beer was London Pride.
This pub looked uninviting from the outside but i quite liked this pub as it was'nt too trendy.
