Situated next to Glasgow Central Station the Grant Arms looks ok from the outside, but this only flatters to deceive when you enter. The pub is stuck in a 1980's time warp and the décor and furnishings a couple of decades earlier. The pub is set up for karaoke and on my arrival around 3-15pm on a Saturday afternoon spotted on the TV Karaoke starting at 3-30.This was the trigger point for an early exit and observed lots of local "talent" just arriving for an afternoon of fun.

Sometimes you have to reiterate the previous review - Grant Arms is not a great pub, empty most week days but on the weekend (particularly a Saturday) it is mobbed, a loud karaoke and punters milling around banging into you and groups accumulating outside smoking and spitting as well as some being the worse for ware doesn't do much for its image - The drink selections itself isn't adventurous (but its not really a drinkers pub) to be fair I had a nice pint of Guinness - bland says it all to me.

A very plain interior serving a standard draught selection.

The Grant Arms consists of a single large street-level bar tucked into the building complex adjacent to Glasgow Central. The decor is shabby, uninspired and bland. This pub is like the Moon - cold and devoid of atmosphere. No real ale, very little interest from the staff and no welcome from the locals make it highly unlikely that I will return when there are so many other pubs nearby, a shame when, as David Ross points out, this could be a much better welcome to Glasgow.

This is an old pub with an attractive exterior and an interesting history, the original tavern on the site having been opened in 1834. The interior, however, is a major disappointment, being a run of the mill, modern, nondescript lounge bar. It's situated next to the "Heilanman's Umbrella," the bridge which carries Glasgow Central Station over Argyle Street, so it's unfortunate that it might be one of the first pubs visitors to the city venture into. At night, the sound of trains overhead is usually drowned out by loud music. This could and should be a good pub but, at the moment, simply isn't. There are many better options in the area.
