Two rooms, the right hand one for dining. Bar in middle offering only two weak real ales.

Great friendly pub, i feel so comfortable in here even as a single female i can drop in and not feel out of place, the young publicans Sara and Rob ensure that you are involved in the latest chat, this is how a pub used to be before the wine bar took over and destroyed good pub culture! they offer an extensive range of meals from traditional pub grub, veggi and gluten free options and every Thur there is an exotic meat night (last night was reindeer - highly recomended)also very pet friendly, pub dog Bexs has a wag for every one and new kittens Cookie & Crumble are currently providing some adhoc entertainment; that is once they have had enough of dozing in front of the open fire.

Located at the western end of a very long, thin village, there are two bars to the front and a restaurant housed in a rear conservatory seating about 40 for meals and the popular sunday carvery. The right hand bar is a public bar with a pool table and darts board, there are some nice framed cigarette cards on one wall. The main bar, into which you enter from the front door, is a typical pub lounge, carpeted floor, plain white walls decorated with old photos of villagers and the surrounding area, seating is mainly tables and chairs with comfortable benches as meals are also served in this bar. Although from the front there appears to be very limited parking there is a longish car park at the rear, which also backs onto a small caravan site. Five hand pumps serving John Smiths cask plus guests from local small breweries, only one was available on my visit the others sporting the old Wetherspoons favourite a “Coming Soon” rosette. Standard kegs only, the smooth version of Smiths, 1664, Fosters, Stella, Guinness and Strongbow. Bottled Leffe is also available. The staff are a friendly, solicitous but mildly eccentric older couple with a complement of competent chefs, and waitresses etc to keep the food side going. A bus stops directly outside Mondays to Saturdays, the pub is Cask Marque approved and is in the Good Beer Guide this year.
