Graham Coombs left this review about The Sun Inn

A surprising old stone-built pub by the side of a moorland road, which has a rather large interior combining what were presumably once several rooms with an extended area to the rear. this features two pool tables and a large dining area, as well as some smaller corners. From the road, the only clue to the scale of the place is the large car park, but its popularity seems to justify it with a steady stream of patrons on a Saturday afternoon. Draught ales mainly from Theakston with several other Yorkshire brews included and were in good order (Cask Marque).

Old Boots left this review about The Sun Inn

Deceptively large stone pub on the moors above the Washburn Valley between Harrogate and Otley. Internally it comprises a large open plan space with two smaller areas to either side of the entrance, one with basic seating the other with a pool table, there is another pool table at the back of the pub. There is exposed stone work everywhere with some ceiling beams although it is carpeted throughout. Furnishing at the entrance end is traditional wheel back chairs, tables with cast iron bases and basic benches, the far end is more of a dining area. There are some welcoming open fires as the aroma of wood smoke on entering makes apparent. Décor is fairly minimal with a few pictures and items of horse harness, music is supplied from a juke box. At the rear is a patio with views towards Menwith and Nidderdale. Handpulled beers are from Theakstons of Masham plus Old Speckled Hen with the usual UK keg stuff alongside. It advertises as biker friendly and there were a few bikers in when I called, there is also regular live music, usually on Saturdays.
