Old Boots left this review about Royal Oak

Located at the far end of the village just before the steep ascent up Greenhow hill. It has one large open plan room although the entrance has two doors, presumably they used to lead to two different bars. The bar counter runs along the back wall and is equipped with two handpulls, Black Sheep Bitter and Taylors Landlord being dispensed, plus the usual keg range of Becks, Fosters, Guinness, Stella etc. The room is carpeted, there is a dart board over one of the fireplaces and it has wheelback chairs at Britannia tables however the atmosphere is that of a restaurant or cafe. It is very family friendly. There is a patio outside and over the road at the front with views over the village and the Dale.
