Been here a couple of times recently, hidden away but well attended for both the beer and the food. Two main drinking rooms both seperate, customers have to go outside to get from one to the other. Authenticly old with the expected oak beams and posts, traditional furniture and horse brasses etc there is a third more modern area with no bar for eating purposes. A set of five handpumps in each of the two drinking bars, Bowman Swift One, London Pride, Dark Star Hophead , Gales HSB and the long standing house beer No Name Bitter which nowadays is brewed by Triple fff brewery and is of session strength. A pleasant enough pub and worth a small detour should you be in the general area.

A haven't been here since around 1983 but the reviews below indicate that there's been little if any change. Indeed you shoot at 60 mph past the pole sign with the empty frame (hence the Pub With No Name) and then there's no turning back for miles, but it would seem from Google that there's now a road sign which defeats the purpose somewhat - this is a local pub for local people no more, it would seem. Then it's up a country road and turn into a gravel drive and car park. I don't know if the lavatories are still outside in a hut with a slatted door and lift-up latch, but I hope so. The interior was very traditional with the likes of hop bines, and the website paints a picture which I recall.
Back then, the pub sold its (in)famous No Name Bitter which I seem to recall was brewed on-site. It was very moreish but with a hefty ABV which ensured that you had a bastard behind the eyes for most of the next day!
This place is well worth a trip and I'd love to return some day.

Unable to review as outside opening hours for my visit [opens at noon]

However for anyone wanting to try it out and unfamiliar with it, I have posted photo of it, especially directions off Monkey Lane

It earnt it's "pub with no name" tag when sign vanished, so all you see is a white post at end of what looks like a private drive, miss the post and you are doomed into single track road amongst the Hangers and woods, without any turning spacee for miles

Known as the Pub With No Name due to the sign holder at the base of the hill, which has long been empty. The pub boasts a nice array of ales and ciders - beers sampled included Oakhams JHB, with No Name Strong and Best also. The cider was a particularly dry one (Heart of Hampshire I think) which certainly stripped the plaque off the teeth, should keep my dentist happy. The owners were happy to chat in between tasks and we were made to feel welcome. A couple of small downsides - I found was that the interior was a bit dark for a sunny day, and I wanted to get outside. I dare say it's a better bet in the winter months as the real fires are lit. Also the beer, whilst fair, wasn't of the quite of the top quality I was hoping for. I am being picky though – it's worth a return visit.
