Disappointment of the week with Real Ale Ray

This is now an independent pub that looks like it should be part of a chain - it's similar to a Barracuda/Smith & Jones, by which I suppose I mean it's a non-pub building designed for food during the day and vertical drinking at night. There are three hand pumps on the bar, with a choice of beers from Elgoods, Samuel Adams and Fullers. It's a refreshing change that these were not just the tired old "usual suspects", but to my palate one pale session ale is much like another - but then I have a shrewd guess that I'm not the core punter this place is being aimed at. This is confirmed by the presence of a test your strength machine, situated near the pool table, which was doing good but very noisy business with a handful of young lads who evidently had more money than sense.
