An odd place that looks like a house plus converted barn with numerous extensions. Pitched firmly as a family-friendly eatery, an extensive pub grub menu was chalked up on a large board by the (small) bar and food was flying out, an hour’s wait on Saturday afternoon. There’s also a large grassed garden (including kids play area) and camping/caravan facilities. Multi-roomed, with various bits of agricultural bobbins on the walls and ceilings plus some brewerania. Pool table spotted. Three ales available; Pride, Plain Hooker and Palmers 200. My Palmers was in fair shape. Bar didn’t appear to be perpetually staffed as the girls were frequently dealing with the fall-out of the kitchen. Still, it was a decent stop and as an all-round family-friendly venue it certainly beats the nearby competition (eg the Portway Inn) quite spectacularly.
