I'm not a big fan of hotel bars and this one is much like another with efficient service but no atmosphere. I was glad to see a local beer with Buxton Best Bitter on offer. It was an OK pint but there are much better options nearby.

A pleasant enough opposite the opera house. A little bit pricey like the one over the road but its not too bad. As its part of a hotel its very much your lounge bar/room place. Pretty soulless but not too bad. Lots of different areas to sit in and once you find the bar there are a couple of handpumps serving some real ales. Best to go somewhere else.

As well as the Theatre Bar, open between 12 and 2 and again from 6, this hotel also features real ales in Mary's Wine Bar: go through the main entrance and look for a left turning off the corridor with the modest sign "Wine Bar" above it. This small bar is geared up for meals but there are three hand pumps at the bar, which is situated beneath an attractive domed skylight. When I was there they had Whim Hartington IPA, Timothy Taylor Landlord and Buxton SPA.
