Nicer than remembered, must have been done-up a bit in the interim? Relatively intimate place, especially towards the front so a bit more pubby than the standard JDW. Three guest cask, sadly my Stonehenge Eye Opener was crap (NBSS 1.5) so my score remains unchanged. Shame.

July 2016
Fairly small Spoons, long and narrow with three distinct areas, little natural light and blandly decorated. Tidy rear patio. All the interesting ales were off (on a Saturday too!), bar Prescott Chequered Flag which was pretty uninspiring. Grabbed some grub here and there was none of the usual ‘condiments are over here’ etc from the bar, it all felt rather slapdash. Pretty disappointing, really. Rated 4

A fairly decent Wetherspoons, certainly better than some I’ve visited recently. The staff were welcoming and professional, and the atmosphere was calm and convivial. The interior is well described by others, below, and hasn’t changed much since those earlier reviews. Ales on were Abbott, Ruddles, Doombar, and 2 from Box Steam Brewery, Piston Broke and Soul Train. The Piston Broke was off, and the barman replaced it immediately with no hassle; the Soul Train was in excellent condition. I’d be very happy to come back here, and not just to use the vouchers.

This Spoons has a fairly narrow entrance but extends back a long way where it becomes wider. The bar is on the right and there is a patio at the rear. Many of the walls are wood panelled. It was busy with a mix of people on my Saturday visit at around 11:00am.
The bar has two sets of five hand pumps but with one unused and the JDW Trio Of Doom doubled up the choice was poor. The three available were Adnam's Redpoint Tai Pale Ale, Butcombe Mendip Spring and Twisted Gaucho. I went for the Mendip Spring and Gaucho (£2.15) both of which were in good condition. This isn't a bad Spoons but was let down by a poor beer selection.

Called in for lunch while visiting Devises, and found it to be a well run Wetherspoons with tables being cleared, and friendly staff giving prompt service with both beer and food. Had a couple of the festival beers and they were both in good condition, Budelse Capucijn and Herold Black Challice.
