I happened to call in here on their first day reopen after a massive refurb by Robinsons. No idea what it was like before, but whilst the refurb is very smart it doesn't have much character now. There's a small room to the left as you enter with a fire and butterfly prints all over the walls. It was very, very warm in here, whether this was deliberate or not I have no idea. Maybe the heating has had a refurb as well and they don't know the best setting yet. There's been a lot of money spent here, but it feels more like a gentlemen's club (not lap dancing) rather than a pub. Very dog friendly as there were two in during my visit. My half of Dizzy Blonde was OK, but was served in a ladies cider glass. Surely they should have Robbies branded glasses from day one in a new reopening? There was music playing from a local radio station whilst I was in, including adverts, jingles and loads of other crap. You need to get rid of that. Not really my sort of place, but then again not many Robbies pubs are these days.

The Royal Scot is a decent Robinsons tied house and in the Robinsons guide it says it was their first pub.
I had a drink of Robinsons Bitter which was very nice.

Pub visited 18 April 1989.
