Soup Dragon left this review about The Old Mill House Inn

This is a detached former mill house and one time electricity station! It is a pub and eatery that also does accommodation. The irregular shaped building is mainly in white painted rough stone, with some blue paintwork. It has a fantastic rear beer garden next to the mill stream and a small front patio area.

The interior is a good mix of styles, from traditional to modern. The main room is a U-shaped traditional room around the central wood serving bar that faces you on entry - with a side lounge that is modern, with sofas etc. The back of the main room is laid out for dining, and it was where we ate - the food was good. The decor is a mix of undressed rough stone and a scored cream render, with a white and beam ceiling and a wood floor. There is a stone fireplace in the foody bit. Sea ephemera and a few mirrors decorate the walls. On the way out to the beer garden at the back there is a pool table. There is a TV, but this wasn't on at my visit and the music in the day was general and at a decent level, but a really good folk group (almost choir) sang excellently on the night for free (charity donation if you wanted). The service was very good and the clientele a busy mix of diners and drinkers on the evening and a few holidaymakers during the day.

Beer; usual tap stuff with Old Rosie cider. On handpull were Sharpe's Doombar, a very good Dartmoor Legend, a nice enough Skinner's Old Mill house ale and Porthlevon.

Overall, i really liked this place. We popped in a couple of times during a holiday week; drank, ate, enjoyed the garden and were treated to a folk group playing for charity - definitely worth a visit.
