Excellent friendly town centre local. The lounge was empty early on a Tuesday evening so I went in the vault. The "clique" around the bar made my half hour visit very enjoyable. Nice old large wall clock behind the bar. Beer choice not great but the Salopian Oracle was on excellent form.

Quite a good pub with real ale available. Has a front and rear entrance with the front the more welcoming looking.

I think this is a great terraced building. It is in white and black wood beam, with entrances from two parallel streets. It is somewhat irregular, and i believe there is a touch of the Georgian in the sash widows, but the 17th century too, with the beaming at the rear. It has a decorative front gable and dormer windows. The interior has a couple of rooms; a small narrow bar off to the left, which has a TV (not on) and a lounge to the right, which had no TV and no music. It was in a sympathetically restored timber frame. The service was excellent and there were a few locals in the bar and a family in the lounge. Beer; usual tap stuff with M&B MILD. On handpull, there was Salopian Oracle, Shropshire Gold, Hop Twister, Lemon Dream and Wye Valley HPA. Salopian are a great range for those that like a little hop, making this a great beer choice. I had the HPA and Gold, both were decent. A must if in Wellington.

5 on during my visit this afternoon. 4 from Salopian's excellent range + 1 guest. I had the Oracle and the Shropshire Gold, both were in perfect condition. Friendly staff and regulars in this welcome addition to Wellington's growing real ale scene.

Now run by Darwin Inns , the pub has had a minor refurb , the room to the right of the main entrance has had the walls striped back to show the original timber frame in its proper bare state , the main bar to the left is quiet small and narrow , there are pine bench seats in the windows and at the far end of the room , seperated by a huge old fireplace which has a small woodburner with a couple of small tables on either side , the small bar is opposite , usual keg taps plus six handpulls , three in each room , only two in use with Salopian Golden Thread and Shropshire Gold , they were both in decent nick , service was friendly as were the locals , its not to bad in here

Black and white timbered building in the pedestrianised area. Called in on Thursday as part of a mini crawl of Wellington pubs. Only real ale on the bar was Wye Valley Butty Bach. I had a pint which was OK. Only 4 people in the pub including me at 8 p.m. and yet the barmaid still had to be told by the other customers that I was waiting to be served.
