Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Crown

Obviously an old building, but thoroughly refurbished in all parts, and particularly the seating and pool table areas up a few steps from the exposed brickwork in and around the bar. Elongated patio beer garden at the back. With two of the three handpumps operational, I found Doom Bar and Wainwright (£3.20) available.

A pleasant Marston's pub. Very olde worlde inside with wooden beams and bare brick. It seems to be in 3 parts with the bar area, a raised area to opposite the bar and a covered alleyway-like area to the right of the bar. 3 handpumps with only Wainwright's on today. A nice pub to enjoy a pint but you're not getting anything adventurous beer wise.

There are 3 sections to this welcoming black and white timber framed building.
You walk into the bar which has a wood floor, brick built bar and, despite the large telly in the corner, feels the most traditional part of the building.
To the left of the entrance and up a small flight of stairs is a small pool area and, to the rear of the building, a much larger, long and fairly narrow lounge area which is carpeted with nondescript pub furniture and lacks any traditional features. The lounge is a pretty dreary atmosphereless space which doesn't fit the building at all.
The welcome from behind the bar was friendly with the barman happy to chat about the beers all punctuated by loud, expletive laden banter from the pool players. No bad thing as it added to the atmosphere.
Beers on were all from Marstons - Pedigree, Marstons Bitter and Banks Black Diamond which is either a very bitter mild or very light porter dependant on how you see it. Either way, the Black Diamond slipped down easily.
Not a bad boozer in a town struggling for decent ale.

Marston's tied house on two levels, with the bar at the lower side with a couple of sofas under the front window.Up a few steps ,the other front room has a pool table and red bench seating running around the walls while to the rear are tables and chairs you would expect to find in a dining area.A few old beams around the interior but a rather bland decor compared with my previous trip six years ago when the interior had a more traditional feel.
There were four handpumps, one reversed the others offering Pedigree,Marston's Bitter and Banks's Black Diamond (good nick,£2.84) a new brew light porter 4%.
Friendly welcome from the barman, but few customers apart from a group of women playing pool with accompanying profanities ,it felt like a town centre boozer .However if you don't get on with the somewhat dull ales that Joules brew, this may well be the place to drink real ale in Drayton,a town which has seen better days.

The Crown is a nice looking pub from the outside.
Once inside the pub was split into two halfs, the lower half had the bar in it and this was the main drinking area, there was a small bench seat where i sat and a couple of tall tables and stools, the rear area is larger and carpeted,it had mainly nomal tables and chairs with all tables having menus on them but not laid out, there was also a pool table in a seperate area on the upper half.
The pub is a Marstons house and there were four real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Wychwood White Witch which was a very nice drink, the other beers were Pedigree,Banks's bitter and Armarillo single hop.
The pub was fairly busy in the lower half and there was rugby on the TV.
I quite liked this pub and would happily return here.
