Steve C left this review about The Talbot

The Talbot is set back from the passing road by a ramp that leads up to a paved beer garden with picnic tables. Inside the pub there is a seating area with fireplace to the left of the entrance and to the right is a raised seating area with a second fireplace. A couple of high tables in the centre of the pub are faced by the bar that runs up the right wall. At the rear there are a couple of booths to the left and some sofa are found to the right. Televisions are located throughout, football was playing during a recent Thursday evening visit. There was also some background music playing so there was a noise clash.
The bar supports four handpumps, one of which was unused and another was off. This left Eagle IPA and Well’s Bombardier as the cask ale options. A standard and premium keg range was also available, as was food with the burger coming in at £9.45. This place is OK for a high street boozer, but there are better options in the immediate vicinity.

A standard one roomed Marston's pub with no special merits. Three beers from the Marston range with my Brakspear Oxford Gold being quite pleasant.
The pubs signboard now shows a better painting of a Talbot dog than the previous more "cartoon" picture.

A bit more rough than others in the town but decent enough without being great. The pub is clean enough and is basically open plan. 3 handpumps on the bar but not that an inspiring choice, with Hob Gob, Cumberland and Cocker Hoop on.
