Had a pint after bowling here. I ended up having a pint of lager as the people who were drinking cask ale were taking it back.

Called in after bowling on the green at the back on Wednesday. It's changed hands since my last review and whilst the interior is the same the beer range has changed. They now sell Thwaites Wainwright, Copper Dragon Golden Pippin & Black Sheep Bitter. The Black Sheep was off and the pump was clipped with Dunscar Bridge Bombshell, so I had a pint of that. If I'd have looked around carefully I'd have noted that some of the bowling team that I know are real ale drinkers were drinking keg Sovereign Bitter. This speaks volumes, as I discovered when I tried my pint, it was pretty poorly kept. A decent pub still let down by a lack of cellarmanship, despite changing hands.

This pub is a bit of a strange shape really. It's an island bar with a lounge that effectively runs round 3 sides with a tap room on the other side. Shows lots of live football in here. It's a comfortable pub with plenty of seating around, including banquettes with small round tables plus dining tables and chairs. Has a bowling green out the back with a pleasant patio overlooking it. Also has a friendly pub dog (a boxer) wandering around the place. The bar has three handpumps usually serving Moorhouses Pride of Pendle, Pendle Witch and Black Cat, although as far as I'm aware it isn't owned or tied to Moorhouses. All the beers are generally well kept without being totally top notch. It's a nice enough pub.
