The White Hart has now been purchased by the Mountain Pub Company. Called in yesterday on the opening day where it was packed out, although the free drinks might have been a factor.

A very fine building elevated above the High Street ,it's on two floors with only the ground floor visited by me and the crew.The interior winds around the building ending in some 6 seater seating booths near the loos.It has the obvious corporate feel and the limited real ale range was saved by the single guest Settle Elderflower,sessionable and NBSS 3.5.
If and until the ale range expands there is limited appeal to the real ale drinker ,sadly as it's a decent enough place.

A very respectable Spoons, with an L shaped room on the ground floor with the equivalent size upper bar and lounge on the first floor. I found that the majority of the customers used the first floor for mostly food, whereas the ground floor attracted people popping in for a drink, as it was a lot quieter. The ground floor area had oak panelling, painted walls in various different colours, greens, purples browns etc. There was also a ornate looking fireplace at the far end of the lounge. Ten handpumps at the lower bar, so we went for the Little Valley Todd's Blonde 5% at £2.15 a pint, which was a bargain.

This is a fairly attractive Wetherspoons, a complete contrast to its older stock of converted shops. It has the pub name in mosaic tiles on the floor in the entrance porch, which presumably predates its time as a Wetherspoons.
Inside will be more familiar to the regular Spoons customer with the bar right in front of you as you enter and a couple of sections off to the left which presumably were separate rooms at one point. Despite being opened out, they still retain the feel of being distinctly separate areas. Going against everything we know about Spoons pubs, the bogs are on the ground floor (amazing!) and there is apparently a separate bar upstairs, though not investigated by myself (no need to, with the toilets being downstairs).
The pub was pretty full yet strangely quiet in the afternoon towards the end of the lunch trade, which felt a bit weird.
It took a couple of minutes to get served as both members of staff were helping a customer who was ordering food, but that gave me time to peruse the ale choice. There are ten hand pulls split across two banks of five, the left hand one had most of the guests and the one to the right had the usual Spoons selection (Ruddles et al) plus a guest or two (I recall seeing Pendle Witches Brew by Moorhouse's over that side). I had the Hop Black by Wibblers, a Cascadian Dark Ale and only £1.08 for a half.
The carpet looked a bit worn and tired in places but otherwise the décor was reasonable and in good order. A couple of games machines were over to the left of the bar between the two separate sections. Mainly standard tables and chairs but I did notice some booth seating in the room to the rear.
Not bad at all.

An extremely comfortable Wetherspoon's on two levels, in a nicely-restored old building with lots of wood panelling and various nooks and crannies. The main bar at street level features a particularly good range of local ales, outnumbering the national usuals. Upstairs there is another smaller bar, but not open all hours, with its own entrance just across the road from the station. There is also a roadside courtyard area up here. Usual facilities but has a general feel of being well looked after. One of the better small town 'Spoon's.

This is an original 1930s pub a few yards down the hill from the station. The conversion by Wetherspoons seems to have retained a lot of the original pub. I didn't venture upstairs but the ground floor bar is quite small for a Spoons and has tall tables and chairs but with lower seating and some booths over to the left.
Sadly there was a cellar problem while I was there that meant that the lines couldn't be cleaned to put new beers on so there was just Robinsons Trooper & Wizard and Marstons Wainwright. I went for the recently watered down Trooper which was in decent nick.
Despite the cellar problem this seemed to be a good Spoons.

The White Hart is a Wetherspoons pub that is housed in an original pub.
Once inside there is an L shaped room with the bar facing,the room is carpeted,the seating tall tables and chairs to the front and normal tables and chairs down the left side.
I had a drink of Rudgate Jorvic Blnde which went down well,the other beers noted were Bridestone Pennine Gold,Phoenix Wobbly Bob,Rudgate Ruby Mild,Black Sheep Holy Grail,plus Spoons regulars Doom Bar and Ruddles Best,i thought this was a decent choice of guest beers to choose from.
A decent Wetherspoons and handy for the train station.

A two-floored Wether's. The smaller bar is upstairs depending on which side you enter. The larger bar has the usual 10 handpumps but the other bar only has 5, which are a selection of the 10 beers available. Its a nice Wether's and a lot more intimate than the usual barnlike pubs.

Called in on the 1st of March very nicley done but no a big lover of JDW had a nice meal before i got my train back to Manchester

Nicely refurbished JDW on two floors. Most people don't find the upstairs area which means it's much quieter and there's also a bar serving different ales to the downstairs one. It's quite a small pub with lots of nooks & crannies on both floors. I used to call in here in its previous incarnation and JDW have made a great job of doing it up. Several ales on both bars and my pints of Belhaven St Andrews Ale & Vale Long Dark Nights were very well kept. It's expensive for a JDW as a condition of them being allowed to take on the pub was that the prices had to be similar to other Tod pubs to stop them closing down. This means that a pint was £2.30, still reasonable for Tod where prices are around £2.50 elsewhere. I've been in twice recently and I'll certainly be back soon.
