Golden Cross saving the day in this part of Buckinghamshire. I managed to walk for 14 miles in the Chilterns, passing 5 pubs and not one was open. Some due to bad luck and being early and others through refurb, not opening on Mon/Tue (even Bank Hols) and having Xmas Off.
The CAMRA GBG App brought me to the nearest recommended pub open. A roadside pub, set up for pub grub - which was most welcome. Two cask on and the HPA was perfect.

The only pub in the roadside village of Saunderton, this sates most camps offering pub grub, a three ale selection and retains a two-room layout in an era of glasnost. A narrow room which had a pool table and a central table with diners occupied the right-hand room, with the left-hand room being slightly larger and L-shaped and possibly more geared for dining (all tables had menus). GK IPA, Butcombe Bitter and Wye Valley HPA were the ales on, and as this is possibly better-judged on a Friday or Saturday night rather than a weeknight, this is another one mentally-noted for a revisit.
