Another reasonable looking pub but not great beer choice. Only Greene King IPA but they do have Brewdog Punk IPA which I had. OK for a quick one.

This is a Greene King pub judging by the exterior signage – and confirmed by the ales available. There was no GKIPA for some reason, but they did have Abbot as well as something called Cotswold Old Sodbury Mild (£1.60 a half), which the barmaid informed me was brewed by Greene King. Now there’s a surprise. But for a GK beer it wasn’t bad at all. Food seems to be available most times, with a standard pub grub menu available – e.g. British Beef & Ale Pie at £6.99.

The pub looks to be housed in a conversion from an old civic building, and which a previous reviewer says was a police station. The main drinking area is broken up and separated by ironwork balustrades, pillars, slightly raised area, and at the back a conservatory has been added to provide additional seating. There are tall tables/tall stools all over the place; some normal tables and chairs and a few plush bucket armchairs. There’s loads of outside seating, which seemed to be very popular when I was in there on a very nice Wednesday afternoon.

I can’t get very excited about this place – I rarely do about conversions – but it is comfortable, clean, and bright and apparently well looked after. The outside seating is a big plus, but I’m not a great fan of Greene King ales so probably won’t be making a return visit.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Fig Tree

A former police station, which could have made an interesting conversion but there is nothing left to suggest what it used to be (except for a small plaque on the front wall). Inside, the place seemed busy but this might be partially due to the cramped arrangement of furniture. The front seating area is raised by a couple of steps, and there is a conservatory-type area at the back. Patio beer garden with a separate arched entrance. Rather indifferent staff, and one (disused) handpump with an Old Speckled Hen clip, so it was just a quick pint of Greene King IPA Smooth and I was off.

This is a good sized pub with a bar serving up Peroni and standard draught products against the left hand wall and a large conservatory at the rear. There is a veranda along the right hand side wall that overlooks a paved beer garden that has some potted plants and shrubs dotted about in it. Sky Sports is shown and I counted three plasma screens in the main bar area. The crowd seemed to be of university age and there was a lively atmosphere without a hint of aggression.

I had a reasonable pint in here, but I could have done without the adverts being blasted out at full volume after the football match that was being shown had finished.
