Will Larter left this review about Northern Taps

A cafe bar shop conversion with a few beer taps. The four hand pumps had two improvised signs instead of pump clips, indicating "Northern Cask", which on enquiry proved to be Tetleys Bitter, and Sandstone Edge, a golden ale from Wales. The barman was surprised to be told that Tetleys is no longer brewed in Leeds, which is perhaps indicative of a lack of interest in real ales in this bar. This was confirmed when the beer proved to be not just insipid and lacking in character, as expected, but also tired and fit for not much more than pouring down the drain. This may be a good spot for a break from a wearying shopping trip, but I suggest that a coffee might be the better option.

I quite liked this place even though I'm not a fan of the cafe bar-like place. 4 real ales on plus a bigger selection of crafty stuff. Descriptions of the interior are elsewhere. Its a billion times better than the Sluggy Lettuce over the road.

Northern Taps is a modern bar.
Once inside there is a single square shaped room which is bare boarded, the bar is on the rear right side, the seating is tall tables and chairs to the front right and normal tables and chairs on the left side.
There was a decent choice of real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Empire Golden Warrior which went down very well, the other beers noted were Sandstone Desert Dragon and Small World Barncliffe best.
Background music was playing and the pub was very busy with the 30s to 40s age group.
This is a decent bar with a decent choice of real ales.

Real Ale Ray left this review about Northern Taps

This modern one room bar has been open for two years. This space consists open plan ceiling timber and steel beams, timber floors and cream painted walls. The bar area over in the right hand corner was brick with an oak counter top. There were five handpumps with four in operation. We went for their Northern Gold, brewed by Leeds Brewery and priced at a steep £3.10 a pint. They also had a choice of six ciders and continental lagers. This was a respectable place and was clean and tidy. There were quite a few people dining on our Sat afternoon visit. Being a trendy new place, the most annoying factor was the young barman couldn't stop saying 'Guys' constantly.
