Real Ale Ray left this review about The Stew & Oyster

The beer quality in here along with the service was very good. We went for the Roosters Highway Fifty One and the Atom Blonde ale. Six handpumps with four in operation on this visit. The pub offers various types of stews and an array of oysters could be seen chilling on ice in the left hand corner of the bar. I would return here for the beer selection and condition of their beers alone.

I thought this was called Calls Landing when i went into it,but Rob say it is called Stew & Oyster so i must be wrong.
Once inside there is a square shaped room which is bare boarded, the room is divided into different areas, the seating is normal tables and chairs and bench seating.
There was a good choice of real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Roosters Yankee which went down well as the last drink of my pub crawl, the other beers noted were Roosters Pilsner,Bad Beer Co Comfortably Numb and Roosters Fort Smith.
The background music was quite good.
A very pleasant place to have a drink, one to take the wife to.

Old Boots left this review about The Stew & Oyster

Housed in the old Call's Landing warehouse with its bar towards the back next to the river and canal. It has 6 six hand pumps on the steel panel clad counter. An old building but in a modern style with girders visible and wood floors. There's a mix of seating and lots of brick built bits have been added to form toilets and rear service areas. You only get Get Carter glasses to go with the views of a gentrified Leeds riverside. I quite liked it.

ROB Camra left this review about The Stew & Oyster

This pub is definitely called Stew & Oyster. One fairly small L shaped room dotted with sofa's, comfy chairs, high stools & tables and standard dining tables & chairs. Stews & Oysters are the main fare here along with a few other options under the "Not Stew or Oysters" bit of the menu. 3 ales available and the Brass Castle Bad Kitty was in pretty good shape. We ended up lounging around in one of the sofa's which was so deep I had trouble getting up again. Pretty busy on our early Friday evening visit with a mixed crowd. There's an outside area overlooking the river, but that wasn't an option as it was blowing a gale on our visit. I suspect we'll be back as the other half loved it.

Pub SignMan left this review about The Stew & Oyster

I'm not entirely sure what this pub is called - I originally thought it was called 'Calls Landing' and that Stew and Oyster was the name of the chain of pubs it belongs to, but having viewed their website, I'm now not so sure. Whatever it's called, this is a smart gastro pub in a large riverside building that I popped into out of curiosity on a recent crawl around Leeds. The pub probably comes into its own during the summer month, as on approach you can see a decent looking outdoor riverside seating area which didn't seem quite so appealing in the cold wind and wintery drizzle when I arrived. You enter into the bar - a bare boarded room with the servery tucked away to the rear, bare brick walls, a long padded banquette, two very broad settles and a few standard tables and chairs. The wooden ceiling has huge metal girders running beneath it, each covered with a reassuring collection of pump clips, whilst the walls have been decorated with an unrelated series of black and white photos and a ledge with a collection of beer bottles, each sporting a flower. Some doors on the river side of the pub lead out to a tiny balcony with enough space for a single table and a couple of chairs. I couldn't quite see if the balcony was directly above the river or not, but it seemed like a pleasant and unusual spot regardless. To the left of the bar there is a second, much larger room which looked like it was geared more towards diners and offered a good range of seating options. Each table had a small bucket on top containing more flowers and the walls were decorated with various enamel beer adverts. An eclectic soundtrack played away in the background and a couple of customers were taking advantage of the rack full of the days papers, which they'd managed to spread across a couple of tables.
There were three ales on when I arrived - Theakston Best Bitter, Hand Drawn Monkey Haus and Ossett Treacle Stout. I opted for the latter which was pretty good and served to me by a jovial barman. Lots of boards throughout the room detailed various spirit ranges including one which listed 30 different whiskeys. Food options are restricted pretty much to stews (£7) and oysters (11.25 for 6), plus a few bar snacks.
I thought this place might be a bit bland and too food orientated but it actually had a bit of character to it and the main bar area certainly felt like the sort of place you could unwind over a pint rather than sit down for a meal. All in all a pleasant surprise and a good summertime alternative to the usual suspects.
