A very pleasant small bar on goodrmgate selling a vast selection of hard to find continental beers from europe. On my visit there were two cask ales at £3.00 and these were Roosters Yankee and Taylors landlord, the landlord was in good form. I also tried the Camden pale at a special price of £3.50 and this was also a very enjoyable beer. There is also a large fridge with a huge selection of bottled beers from all over the world.be warned there is a lack of seating in this bar so make sure u find a seat before ordering. Also be warned that there is very sporadic opening times and does not always open when it says it should, it took me a few attempts to find it open. but a very nice bar and one others should look at, a bar that actually caters for the needs of a drinker and one that sells good quality ale, its really not to much to ask for.

Tried to visit again on Wednesday, and again it was closed with wet paint signs on the windows. Will try again Saturday when it should be open.. maybe.

The above was September 2013, and at last, we found this bar open yesterday. They had been closed Monday and Tuesday, but opened 5pm Wednesday. First impression was not good as the short bar counter had 4 people on stools in front of it, and it was impossible to get near the bar at all. They were locals chatting to the lady behind the bar. We saw 2 cask ales on from Cross Bay and Roosters breweries, but we took a fancy to the Flying Dog K9. A brilliant feature was the fridge beside the bar which was well stocked with bottled beers, mainly from Belgium, but there was no beer menu to make your selection from. I did like this bar though, it felt good to be in, and we got chatting with the locals and bar staff too. There was another room off the bar area.

Called here on Saturday but found it closed which seemed weird on a Saturday afternoon. Looked clean and tidy inside with what looked like those tin adverts of foreign beers around the walls. As we were back in the area Suynday we had another look, but still closed. This time I saw the other door with the opening times on. Says closed all day Monday and Tuesday, open 5.30 Wednesday to Friday, open 10.30 Saturday which it wasn't, and open 7.30 Sunday. Want to have a look in here sometime but don't tend to do evenings so will have another go when next up here in September for the beer festival.

International range of beers, cocktails, wines and spirits, eight draught continental beers, including Kasteel at 11% ABV, plus two beer engines for British beer, well kept Thwaites Nutty Black and Roosters on my visit. Nice atmosphere, friendly knowledgable owner and a mixed clientele. Apart from the minor grouch of the outside gents an excellent bar.
