Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Grapes

Quite a plain frontage, but this GBG-listed pub looks like one of the older buildings in town. Only one of the two bars was in use on a Sunday lunchtime, but this small room was traditionally furnished and decorated in an appealing way. Busy with mostly older locals, and some of the accents were so strong it was difficult to follow the banter. Two handpumps on the counter, offering Brass Castle Emergency Bitter and Grainger Ale from the Hadrian Border Brewery (£2.90). Definitely the top spot for a decent pint in town.

One room with bar to the left. TV on with music. I couldn't see any real ales - just keg rubbish.

Lester Ford left this review about The Grapes

The only pub in Stranraer that appears in the 2017 GBG so it needed ticking and what an untouched little gem it is.

The bar itself resembles a front room, wooden tables with leather cushioned seats and banquette seating. All of this date from the 30's with the leather still kept in good nick while the table's are slightly battered.

On the large L shaped wooden bar are 2 ales, one from Portpatrick (7 miles south of Stranraer) and the other from Stirling. The pints of Fallen Breweries New World Odyssey @ 4.1% were excellent.
Prices also very good, 3 pints for £9.10. Extremely friendly welcome from the punters and the barman.

The 90 minutes we spent here were great, its a must visit pub if you find yourself in Stranraer.

A nod to the extremely friendly and chatty locals.

This pub was built in 1862 ,we are only the fifth owners,we have owned it for five years & have just got into the good beer guide for the fourth year running.Anyone who visits the pub says it has a great ambience about the pub, very friendly atmosphere. We pride ourselves on the reputation of our beers & real ales. There are over 60 malts,14 rums,6 gins & 5 differant vokas & other spirits. We just had a bluegrass band called the water tower bucket boys from america doing a gig in our lounge upstairs which went down a storm, this weekend we have the one and only alexander brothers doing a gig for us.if you ever come to this beautiful part of scotland give us a
visit you won,t reget it.One couple from australia phoned us when they got back home to say the highlight of their holidy was being in our pub.
