Old Boots left this review about The Shakespeare

Doom Bar and Bradfield Farmer’s Blonde, the Doom was mild vinegar, I don’t like Bradfield beers but I doubt on this occasion things would be any different. Dry roasted nuts were purchased to disguise (barely) the poor beer. Anyway mostly long and thin across the front, with rear located counter, a short arm either side. A few steps up separate what may have been a two room set up.

Alan Winfield left this review about The Shakespeare

The Shakespeare is a long fronted pub that is situated on a side street in the town centre.
Once inside there is a single L shaped room with the bar facing on entry, the floor is carpeted the seating is comfy bench type and chairs, the right side of the room is up some steps.
There were two real ales on the bar,i had a drink of GK Hardys & Hansons Rockin Rudolph, which was a decent enough drink, the other real ale was Doom Bar.
There were TVs showing sky sports on mute, the background music was decent.
The pub was almost empty on my Friday dinner visit.
