This is a detached hotel, pub and restaurant, with beer garden and patio areas. The place is in Georgian style, which is a bit of a con, as it seems to appear to be Victorian. It stands on the site of, or incorporates an earlier pub known as the Rising Sun (on 1861 census), but the hotel does not appear on the OS map until the late 1870s and the 1871 census mentions neither the Sun, or the hotel. Interestingly, there was a brewery in the village (1870s), which became Brewery House by the 1970s. Anyhow, the hotel has grown over time. The frontage is in white, with the regimented sash windows and central pedimented door of the style. It looks great. The interior has a few rooms. Immediately to the left there is a restaurant. At the back there is another room, in white and wood, with maritime memorabilia. This is a lounge/dining overspill area. The main bar/also diningy area, is off to the right. It is in a dirty cream plaster mainly, with some patterned paper and with a brown ceiling and wood floor. A small TV was not on and there was no music. The room is part partitioned with wood and has a big stone fireplace. Lots of ephemera is dotted about; fishing rods, bottles, prints, etchings, jugs, brasses, plates and so forth - very traditional in that way. The service was very good, especially as it was busy with a wedding and the general tourist flock. Beer; usual tap stuff with Doombar, Titanic Iceberg, Kite Gorslas and Felinfoel Bragwyr - the last two being decent. We called in on a couple of occasions but couldn't get to eat as it was so busy - clearly very popular. The beer was decent, the place nice - definitely worth a visit.

This is a large old hotel, of rather stern and four-square appearance for a village pub, facing a green on the north side of the scattered settlement of Reynoldston. Numerous benches on the grass the other side of the car park suggest just how busy it must get in summer, because there's also plenty of room inside, with dining room to the left and less formal public bar to the right. The latter is bare-boarded with a partitioned area for drinkers near the bar and various booth tables around the walls.
Four hand pumps were serving Timothy Taylor Landlord, Sharps Doom Bar, Felin Foel Double Dragon and Gower Sampson Jack. I had the latter, as representing the most locally brewed offering, and it went down a treat. The beer was reasonably priced, at £3 a pint, for a tourist area, and the food likewise, to judge by the menus written on various boards, though I didn't have anything to eat. Certainly one to consider if you're in the area.
