First time visit to this 2015 Good Beer Guide pub entry and we enjoyed our Cross Bay and Big Shed brewery beers. It is a Brunning and Price chain pub, and was buzzing and looked a popular locals pub, but welcoming to our mini coach party. Good choice of ales and the food looked good too. Garden area too.

Large pub a short journey from Newport , has 4 distinct areas despite being basically one big room , to the left of the entrance is a small bar area which leads to a larger dining area then on to another bar area and back to another large dining area back to entrance , all served by a central bar . Decent views from the rear of the pub over the countryside . There are usually 5 cask ales on mostly local (Stonhouse , Three Tuns , Wood etc)plus Thwaites and Highgate Mild , although the real treat is the B&P Original , the pubs own beer (brewed by Phoenix) all the beer is exellent . The food is fantastic using mostly local produce . Staff are young and enthusiastic , service is very good . Not the cheapest pub in the area but well worth a visit

OK not the cheapest pub in the area, but the beers good and the food exelent. To be honest we tend to take it in turns to drive out here{to far in taxi} have a few beers and a meal then drive back to civilization drop the car off and hit one of the local pubs{if theres any still open in trench}

Visited on four occasions to confirm impressions. Flashy & trendy, the sort of place you would expect to find pro footballer - we did, a bloke named Giggs & another named Neville - yeh, those two. Cider up to £1.30 a pint more than other houses in the area. Be careful if ordering a half as staff attempt to charge for a pint, have done on more than one occasion. Food excellent. Real ale presented well, pity about the taste. Usually only weaker brews. As you would expect national beers available. Good range of wines & spirits. Didn't notice any atmosphere. Very clean, very tidy, for what it is it's also very expensive. Has an extremely large car park. Located near National Sports Centre at Lilleshall. Will I go again - only under duress
