Blue Scrumpy left this review about The Carpenters Arms

The Carpenters Arms is situated in the small village of Coed-y-Paen, not far from Llandegfedd Reservoir. It now seems to be more of a restaurant serving steaks and other grilled meats, as opposed to a village pub. We had expected the pub to be open all day, but I got the feeling that it had only just opened when we arrived at 6pm. We appeared to be the first customers in.

As we were in need of food and they had time to fit us in (it did start to fill up with diners from 7pm), we decided to indulge in a Mixed Grill and some burgers. The meals were of a good standard. 3 real ales are still served. The usual Wye Valley Butty Bach was supplemented by Wye Valley Tropico & Sharp's Doom Bar.

An upmarket place that was fairly welcoming. Although, as a drinker only, you may feel a little out of place.
