AROUND £15m of investment has been promised for Havant town centre as plans to demolish a historic pub were controversially approved last night.

Now closed & boarded up after too much fighting & trouble

"Police were called to The Star, in North Street, so often that it sparked a review of the licence last year. That was just about to be called in again when the landlord walked away after a failed attempt to turn around the troublesome venue.

The owners, Fullers, immediately ripped out the pumps from the pub – and even took down the pub sign after the departure of Simon Cook on Wednesday."

Looks like changes could be on the way for this pub

"Police have revealed the shocking level of violence at a Havant pub as they attempt to bring an end to trouble.
Over the last year officers say they have been called to deal with 25 incidents at The Star pub, in North Street.........Now the pub is being hauled before councillors as its licence comes up for review."

March 2010, actually went inside, sad to say not one of my wiser moves

The bar is compact, but a cat could be swung I guess. L shaped bar, one part is largely occupied by the pool table, other part has some tables, dart board, TV and door to the loos

Beer is just keg tap range, only bitter was Fullers London Pride, which I had, which was passable but not great

Despite the info given about food, no sign of it, or menus. I never asked as it would not be somewhere I would eat anyway

Bar decor is dark brown and red, with very faded carpet tiles

Notice says disco on Friday & Sat, so maybe the place swings into life at night?

For a nearly empty bar, 3, including bar lady, the music from TV was too much

A Jim Reeves song would have been better, how about "Walk on by" ?

Some TLC would do wonders here, but at least it was open unlike two others in town that have closed, so 3 stars for that

March 2008, sign in window, limited opening times
