Steve C left this review about The Gateway Inn

The Gateway Inn is found atop of a steep covered grass slope that runs from the pub’s car park, through some picnics tables and up to some high tables outside the front of the pub. It is from here that some great views can be afforded of the local countryside.
The interior is well maintained, but has little character and feels more like a hotel bar cum restaurant. In fact this establishment does provide accommodation and being a little of the beaten track it leans towards dry sales so I suppose the sedate surroundings are fitting. My visit was just before 15:00 on a recent Thursday afternoon when the kitchen had just closed. Sandwiches were still available along with ice cream so I gather that anything that doesn’t need cooking is still offered outside the lunch and evening kitchen opening times. After a quick glance I gleaned that the mains off the menu are priced around £12 and tended to be traditional.
The bar is stocked with standard draught products alongside Warstegner beer and being a Thwaites house the three hand pumps were drawing Wainwright, Lancaster Bomber and Little Bewdy. I found the service to be very friendly.

I enjoyed my stay sitting out in the sun with the family and would consider revisiting here if I ever found myself passing again.
