The Anchor Inn is a picturesque road side pub, on a busy main road, it is now under new management. They are serving hot food and filled rolls, I had a cheese and pickle roll which was generously filled, fresh and tasty. I cannot comment on the drinks selection, because I ordered a diet coke. The Anchor has the feel of a proper traditional pub, without the bells and whistles – which is fine by me. If I am in the area again, I might call in and try something from the food menu.

This pub looks quite attractive from the outside and probably pulls in a fair amount of passing traffic from the A370. From the look of it there used to be another pub next door, but that's now an Indian restaurant.
We visited on a Friday night and were looking for food. Oddly, the restaurant area was in darkness and the food servery deserted. The only sign of life was rather loud music. On investigating further, there was a group of guys sat at the bar, and that seemed to be about it. The barman looked rather odd wearing a woolly hat. To be honest the place didn't look very inviting, and as we'd have been the only people eating, even if they were actually serving food, we didn't stop and went elsewhere.
