A large and expansive Hungry Horse pub on the main A370 between Bristol and Weston-super-Mare, it is inevitably popular with diners and families looking for cheap meal deals as these places tend to be, although it does seem a bit of a shame that the residents of Cleeve have this as their only watering hole.

It’s divided in to a number of different areas, some with specific names such as Family Area or Sports Bar. Décor wise, it’s the usual generic bland appearance of such places with generic red patterned carpet on the floor and various shades of paintwork including burgundy and mustard. What might loosely be termed a snug at the front of the pub was a little cosier perhaps with a large fire-place to one side, although this was not in use and the plasma screen stuck on the wall above it spoilt the ambience somewhat. The sports bar adjacent to this included a pool table and a darts board as well as another plasma. There was also a projector screen, although this was rolled up out of use on our visit. Food wise the menu offered an extensive selection of dishes with most main courses appearing to be around the £6/£7 mark.

Beers on tap were Greene King IPA, Olde Trip and the seasonal Rockin’ Rudolph whilst the ciders were Thatcher’s Gold, Strongbow and Strongbow Dark Fruit.
