A basic but friendly locals boozer that’s a GBG regular. A small place with an island bar. Freshly painted red walls, aged blue carpet and battered tables. Dart board and overweight husky/Alsatian cross pub dog spotted. Two ales on, a pretty dull selection of Bombardier and Courage Best. Sampled the latter which was – in keeping with the pubs GBG status – an extremely good drop. To be honest it was a pretty so-so affair bar the ale but there’s only one other decent proper pub in Old Windsor and that’s some distance away. 6.5

Small one bar dog friendly locals back street pub as described below. You enter to face the serving area and then there are areas on either side of the bar. Same two handpumps on the front facing section still dispensing Courage and CW bombardier and my pint of Bombadier was not cheap (I guess you pay for the privilege of being in Old Windsor) but in excellent knick and it looks like this traditional boozer continues to get in the GBG’s for the quality of its beers rather than the quantity of choice.

Friendly 2011 Good Beer Guide pub serving Courage Best and Wells Bombardier, both excellent condition. U shaped bar serving 3 areas, one with large TV and a dartboard. Serves food lunchtime and there is a beautiful garden. Will get a photo while here too. There will be St George's Day events, so looking forward to calling again while staying in Old Windsor.
