Re-opened after a long period of closure. The previous two levels with staircase and dodgy wattled walls remains, though there’s been a bit of tarting-up. Three ales on; West Berks Good Old Boy as a regular, often London Pride and one another. Quality of the ale has been fairly impressive over the last year and the place is always busy. Pleasing.

After a period of closure the pub has re-opened. The beer is a bit hit and miss and the last time I went in I was served a filthy glass. Hopefully just teething troubles.

Refurbed and re-opened 18-odd months ago by the same people who run the pretty good Bull at Barkham. However this place, despite putting on an interesting variety of local ales, just doesn’t understand how to serve them and often the result is cloudy vinegar. It gets taken off and replaced without question, but that’s not the point, is it? Otherwise a large, if slightly clinically stripped out interior awaits, mainly serving food.
