The ale has been removed. Probably for the best, really.

Down to just Pride and a pretty pedestrian Doom Bar the other day which is a shame as they could do well in here with a bit of effort, it's a decent daytime venue if you like the modern bar feel. Doom Bar was a startlingly cheap £2.50pp.

After a massive refurb, this is now a stripped back stressed-looking interior with what I believe is called a ‘theatre kitchen’; it reminded me somewhat of a brighter (and less smelly) version of the Oakford. Anyways, three ales on (Doom, Bombardier and Purity Goose). The Goose, usually a fine beer when kept well, was alas rather muted. Whereas Cape piled the ale high and sold it cheap in middling condition this place appears to be getting in similar stuff but is charging a pound more for it. Hmmm.

Formerly known as Barracuda and then Varsity. Cape is meant to be some sort of South African theme bar but don't expect to see much Boer-related produce in here. Two or three ales usually on the go, with Sharps Doom Bar and Greene ubiquitous but cheap. Quality never much to write home about, plus they use sparklers on the southern beers so there you go. Still, it's an improvement on previous.

Pretty decent South African themed bar, although I was expecting more in the way of South African beer, I went for the Bombardier which was in good condition. More of a bar than a pub.
