A well described, traditional town centre pub with wooden floors, mismatched wood furniture and a real fire as well as a decent sized smokers area at the back complete with large tv.
The welcome here was friendly and set the tone with falling into conversation with neighbouring groups surprisingly easy. It feels cosy and good humoured.
Cask beers on were: GK IPA, Wantsum Yellow Tail, Grainstore Ten Fifty, Lacons Yarmouth Red and Stoneyford SE9 Paradise. A reasonable selection and all that we tried was in good shape.
In addition there were two keykegs available both from Nene Valley Brewery: Bitter and Orange and Bible Black. The Bitter and Orange was exceptional and a real bonus on top of the cask selection.
There were various keg offers and 19 real ciders in addition.
Known as a live music venue and the upcoming gigs were well publicised.
The place to head in St Neots.

The Pig N Falcon is a decent looking pub which is next door to the Weepping Ash.
Once inside the bar faces, there is a oblong shaped room which runs the width of the pub,the right side is up one step and the room is bare boarded, the seating is normal tables and chairs and puff stools.
There were five real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Potbelly Best which went down well, the other beers were Potbelly Beiging Porter,Hop Back Citra,GK IPA and Abbot.
There was decent background music playing on our Saturday dinner visit.
I quite liked this pub.

This is a fairly basic old school boozer, something of a dying breed these days.
It's well described below but on my Friday early afternoon visit just had a couple of old duffers sitting at the bar. I sat between a sofa that looked like it had just been reclaimed from a skip and a window covered in GBG stickers and CAMRA award certificates. The upper walls and ceilings are covered in pump clips.
There are four hand pumps on the bar but there are other beers dispensed from somewhere round the back. Those available were GK IPA & Abbot, Bateman's Gold, Potbelly Best, Milton Marcus Aurelius, Titanic First Class, Brampton Golden Bud and Springhead Drop Of The Black Stuff. I went for the Marcus Aurelius which was a bit on the flat side but OK apart from that. This was £4.80 (reduced to £4.40 with the CAMRA discount). This sounds and is expensive but it is a 7.5% ABV beer, the other beers were more around the three quid mark, mostly a bit over.
This was a nice enough place but hardly a gem. If I came here of an evening and live music was on I would be straight in the JDW a couple of doors away.

What a disapointment. So many beers to choose from and yet so few that where nice. The pub seemed to be full the dregs of St.neots. Loads of potential though. Music was good, but spoilt by being played at a million decibels. I spoke to one person that recommended going to the wetherspoons just down the road to go to toilet unless I want stand in an inch of urine. Sadly this is the closest we have in St.neots to a real drinkers pub.

What a gem, this is the place to drink in town. The bare boarded interior is in two sections, with a small fireplace opposite the bar,a large mirror to one side and a few wooden tables and chairs. There is a slightly raised section infront of the main window, again trad furniture and a flat screen tuned to BBC News 24.Above the bar is a very helpful and descripive drinks menu with at least 8 real ales available together with 6 real ciders and perry and some interesting bottles of Suffolk lager advertised on posters.I had an excellent Oakham Inferno and the other ales on my trip were Pot Belly Best and Dark Tusker,Vale's Grumpling Premium,Black County BFG,Cotswold Spring Pheasant Ale,Penzance Brewing Prussian Gold,Oakham Amarillo,GK IPA and Abbott;the latter two I assume because this used to be a GK pub as their motif in evident on some etched windows leading to the sizeable beer garden.Prices vary between £2 -£3 per pint, very reasonable given the range and quality.
The pub was well used on a damp lunchtime ,unlike a lot of other boozers in town and there is a community feel here.Live music occurs on Wednesday,Friday and Saturday evenings although there doesnt seem to be much room for that in the modest interior. No sign of any food, this is a classic drinkers pub and a must visit in St Neots.
