The Swinging Witch has carpeted banquette seating areas either side of the entrance. The banquettes run up the right wall to a double sided chimney breast housing a burner that splits the bar area from high tables at the rear. Televisions are found throughout, these were showing live football and Racing TV during a recent midweek evening visit. These were muted whilst some random music played, there must be a jukebox somewhere. The services was polite, but only standard and premium keg were available. This place has the feel of a high street boozer, which it is.

Inside is a long carpeted room, partially divided one end by a walk through double door opening where there is a dartboard. The bar is on the back wall, there is a central free standing chimney and fireplace with a stove that looks like it gets use in the colder months. Mixed seating. To be fair, although the interior is modern, bland and characterless it is a busy town pub and apart from 'spoons up the way, one of the only ones to open early. This was clearly evidenced by the presence of a large group of sweary middle aged shaven headed blokes well onto the stuff soon after 12pm, and on ordering my pint it became obvious that prices compete too.
They had Weetwood Mad Hatter, Moorhouses Blonde Witch and Thatcher's Heritage cider. My blonde witch....I have known a few of those...was a mere £1.95. It was decent as well.
More TVs than Curry's, most had the test match on but others were showing bizarre reruns of lower league football matches from a couple of years ago.
There is a bit of outdoor seating with astroturf to the rear and a smoking shelter. The latter was busy.
A paradox, a decent couple of beers served cheaply but well, but a bit rough and for me, a new pub experience as in the gents I encountered a bloke stripped to the waist, washing his hair in the sink. I didn't linger.
