Old Boots left this review about The Hamilton Russell

Large proper pub coloured (white) building in the village centre. Multi space open plan with a variety of dining rather than drinking areas. The rear appears to be a later extension but the decor and furnishings are consistent throughout. There is a more public bar like area at the front left with machines and pool table, it has a counter but no taps or pulls. Furnished for dining with predominately dark wood tables and chairs which mostly match. Tongue and groove to dado level in dark wood with cream walls above, board floor with odd bits of carpet in strategic places. Three pulls on the counter, one blank, Theakston’s odd beer Summit and an average Pedigree, a selection of solos provide a choice of lagers, Guinness and cider. The gents do not have urinals, I had to double check I wasn’t in the ladies due to this. Firmly in dining pub territory but an ok mid market one.

Blue Scrumpy left this review about The Hamilton Russell

One of two pubs in Thorpe Thewles, this large pub appears mainly suited to diners. It was busy on my Thursday lunchtime visit and everybody else except for me was there to eat. In fact, all of the tables in the main room were made out for food too.

The interior is comfortable and spacious with a number of distinct areas. There is also a small public bar, where a couple of youngsters were playing pool. Outside there is a garden area adjacent to the car park, which I seem to recall had children's play equipment (the garden that is, not the car park).

Just the 2 real ales were on. There was Marston's Pedigree & Theakston Summit. The Summit was kept on the cold side, but was not too bad a drop.
