Called in here for a swift half on my way from Ladybower to Bamford village. The pub occupies what might be thought a vulnerable position very close to, one might almost say below, the dam of the massive Ladybower reservoir; the one the Dambusters practised blowing up during WWII. It was fairly quiet when I was here, it being between meal times, but I was only here for a beer anyway. There were just three beers on, the Bradfield Farmers Blonde's pump clip having been turned around, leaving the Bitter from the same brewery, plus Abbeydale Moonshine and Peak Ales Bakewell Best Bitter. I went for the latter, an ok beer though I prefer their Swift Nick. I found this a bit pricey at £1.70 for a half.
Looking around, I considered how I would describe the décor, and the adjective that came to mind was cluttered. Every surface, it seemed, from walls to shelves to beams to ceilings, was covered with either a plate or a brass, a ceramic jug or a pewter mug. There was so much of it that I didn't know where to look, eventually settling on the stone fireplace, which has a solid fuel stove, not lit on this occasion. I can't comment on the food, obviously, but as a casual drinker I'd say that it was pleasant enough here but it's not going on my list for a quick return.

Very nice pub very busy for food called in on the 28th of May had two good pints of Barnes Wallis we all had a meal which was top class did not have to wait long.
But the only down side to it we tried to order deserts and told they had stopped food at two it was not five past.
But will call again

Stonebuilt nineteenth Century , sensitively extended over the years, near the ancient bridge over the Derwent that traditionally marked the boundary between Yorkshire and Derbyshire. Entering the pub through the front porch, one finds an area with tables and benches and an open fire to the right, and the bar to the left, with comfy chairs in front. Passing through this space,the next rooms, together with an imposing conservatory, are laid up for dining.
The Yorkshire Bridge has a number of letting rooms and a considerable restaurant trade:staying in a holiday apartment across the road, we ate here a couple of times in the week we were in the area: large helpings of good hearty food, served with friendly aplomb .Two banks of handpumps dispensed a range of beers from Derbyshire and Yorkshire. During the week, I enjoyed beers from Abbeydale and Bradfield Farmers’ Brewery, and a couple from Peak Brewery from Chatsworth. Alongside these were various fizzy offerings, and an interesting wine and whisky list.
The pub runs a number of teams-darts and dominos were mentioned,together with a quiz night and folk singers. Carol singing was promised nearer to Christmas. Perhaps unusually for these days, the owners seem particularly hands-on, the landlord accompanying the darts team to away fixtures-I don’t remember this happening for years in the South!
The area is close to the Derwent Valley Reservoirs, and the pub has strong links to the Dambusters, who developed their skills over the drowned valleys.

A very busy pub at the weekend where we had a very nice family evening meal.Although it was busy the service was topclass as was the food.The bar had five cask beers ,i tried three of them and they were all on form,Copper Dragon at its best.
