Pub with enviable waterside views across the Teign estuary. Thin and staple-shaped interior with tidy stripped wood floor, three quarter length panelling, some exposed stone walls and the inevitable nautical touches. Five ales; St Austell Proper Job (good) and Tribute, 2x Otter, Bass. Quite big on food and plenty was being shifted. Live music advertised. If you can get here on a nice summer’s day, grab a well-kept beer and bag a harbourside seat, it’s a winner.

Like the other pubs along this stretch the Ship Inn has some outside seating that overlooks a small stretch of beach that is used to store boats throughout the night. This pub probably has the largest outside seating area of the lot as there are quite a few picnic tables with these nice views. The pub itself is long and thin and there is an upstairs seating area above the toilets to the right. During my recent midweek visit there was a good range of beers on the bar that included Betty Stogs, Pride, Tribute, Yellow Hammer, Otter Ale, Heron Valley and Natch Valley ciders alongside a standard draught selection. Pub food is available and the pizza deals were heavily plugged.
There was some low background music playing and I didn’t spot any televisions. Happy hour is every day from 15:00 until 19:00 and there is a meat draw every Saturday at 15:00.

I think that this pub’s major draw is its outside area which must be great on a nice summer’s day afternoon, but for an evening beer I found the pub a bit bland.

Long narrow single bar pub selling up to 5 real ales. Outside drinking area with views across the river to Shaldon.
