Irish pub, tidy-looking from outside. Main bar area on entry with another section up a couple of steps to the left. Inevitable green wood furnishings and boarded flooring. Mixture of seating options and a nice front drinking area. Golf on two TVs. One ale, Hunters Premium which was freezing cold and a bit watery. Thatchers Heritage cider also on. Fair enough for what it is but I wouldn’t be looking to revisit.

This pub was previously known as the Dawlish Inn and after talking to the friendly Irish guy who was working behind the bar during my recent midweek evening visit I learnt that the name changed to Dicey Reilly’s a few years ago.
The exterior of this pub is quite busy with four picnic tables and lots of chalkboards that inform readers that the kitchen is open between midday and 16:00 on Sundays and 11:00 until 18:00 every other day. I gleaned from the menu that the food is basic pub grub and there is a range of baguettes available. Passers-by are also informed that this is a pub with Sky sports and that there are various events throughout the week that include a quiz on Tuesdays, darts on Wednesdays, poker on Thursdays, live music on Fridays, DJs on Saturdays and Karaoke on Sundays. It can be seen in my photo that some rugby posts have been put up around the entrance of the pub so I think that the egg chasing trumps the football in here. My visit coincided with an Exeter rugby match so there was a large contingent of rugby fans eagerly awaiting the start of the game.
I think that at some point this pub has been extended to the left as the main entrance between the rugby posts leads to the bar which is located on the back wall and some seating to the right. Here there is a piano and a plasma screen is attached to the wall. Some steps are located at the left end of the bar which follows the steps up and runs towards the rear of the left hand extension. At the front there is some seating and at the rear are a pool table and dartboard.
The bar is stocked with standard draught products and the lone hand pump was drawing Hunter’s Denbury Dreamer.

There was a very friendly atmosphere in here and I enjoyed my stay even though I’m not a big rugby fan. I would travel across town to visit here again as it is one of the best the Teignmouth has to offer.
