Past some battered old splinter ridden picnic tables are the steps up to the Lime Tree entrance where a bouncer was standing when I visited early on Saturday evening a few weeks ago. The interior is a vast L shape and to the right of the entrance is an area with two pool tables and a dartboard. The pub swings around to the left rear past a stage area where a band was setting up for the evening’s entertainment. The plasma screens found throughout and the projector screen were all off and the barmaid informed me that there is no Sky Sports, which I found surprising. There was some loud 90s dance music playing and I spotted advertisements for karaoke on Friday and Sunday nights from 20:00.
The bar is stocked with standard draught and the three hand pumps were all off.

The staff were friendly and I got the feeling that this place would be a good venue if out for a night with a group, just don’t expect a decent pint of ale.

This is a nice red brick Georgian style corner pub with moulded sandstone window frames which is owned by the Buzz Pubs group. The interior is L shaped and open plan, opposite the entrance is a long bar counter that is against the middle of the back wall, immediately on the left as you walk in is a central chimney breast with a nice cast fire place surrounded by ceramic tiles, the left of the room bends round towards the back of the pub and this area contains a raised dance floor/stage in the back left corner and a large pull down projector screen on the wall. The right of the room has a pool table, table football and a dartboard, the décor is fairly traditional but with various pastel colours, there were some interesting old photos of the local area and people on the walls. At the front of the building on the right is a small patio area with a couple of picnic tables.

Ales on offer during this visit were the local Bays Gold and Bays Devon Dumpling. Also of note was Theakston Traditional Mild, unfortunately on keg but still a nice drink. The ales were in ok condition.

Nice building and not a bad pub but the piped music was very loud considering it was early afternoon and the crowd of what I assume were regulars stood at the bar were a bit rowdy for my liking which created an uncomfortable atmosphere. I wouldn’t rush back but I would drink in here again if near by.

Large one bar town pub with pool table at one end. Real Ale available but no sign of food althought signs outside suggest food is served.
Live Music at weekends.
No car park.
