Tucked away in a remote rocky and beautiful cove, this small hotel has a reasonably pleasant bar, decorated with assorted nautical paraphernalia as might be expected, plus restaurant area and a lot of outside tables arranged along the pathway to the beach. Three good ales on which seemed in very good condition.Ideal for stopping off at before/during/after family visit to beach. or cliff path walk for the more energetic. Note still a £2 charge for toll road during day in summer, and car park at hotel level can get full although plenty of space above.

Avoid this run down damp 70`s decorated pub, we had the misfortune of ordering food, I ordered the Cornish pasty and chips, quite a straight forward lunch time meal. When it arrived I was very disappointed, overcooked frozen chips and a Cornish pasty out of a cellophane packet heated up in a microwave!!! I thought of complaining but didn’t fancy tackling the stroppy Scottish landlady. The pub is set in a lovely part of Devon but if you go take some sandwiches!

A fine place to find at Hartland Quay, a Hotel, Restaurant, Bar and gift shop on a rugged coast.
Real Ales ffom St Austall.
Large number of tables outside for the warmer days and main bar area features low beamed ceilings. well worth finding.

# Note access via a Toll Road (£2 at time of writing).

The Wreckers Retreat is the bar of the hotel. The hotel is situated on the loneliest, loveliest and most rugged coastline to be found anywhere. It is quite a way off the beaten track - all the better for that!
