A rather scruffy-looking traditional country pub, a freehouse with loads of character. It sits in open countryside in a pleasant heath location. There is a small carpark at the front and a 5½ acre field at the back used for club camping events and motorcycle rallies. Inside is a quaint, homely L-shaped bar with an inglenook containing a woodburner at one end. The floor is carpeted, there are oak beams on display and there are glimpses of the original brickwork here and there. There is a dartboard and a tv screen at the back, while the remainder has a mix of comfy chairs and tables. The pub prides itself on its ales and home-cooked food. The landlady was most welcoming, although dogs are not encouraged, there is no wifi and mobile phones are banned. There was only one ale on draft, which was because it is a quiet time; normally there are more. There was also a good selection of bottled beers from several breweries. The ale was Ringwood Best, which was in perfect condition. It's an excellent pub in many respects and well worth seeking out for lunch, or an evening's drinking.

As my previous review is getting a bit long in the tooth, this is just a note to say that little has changed, the pub is still here, as quirky as ever, and long may it remains so.

A local of mine although I don't use it as often as I should. A quirky gem of a pub, as unchanged and unchanging as any in the land.
The 'Keys' is all about the landlady, Viv is a legend in her own pub and her own time, it is she who gives the pub it's unique atmosphere. Walkers, bird-watchers, bikers, cyclists, steam and classic car enthusiasts know where the 'Keys' is to be found.
The choice of real-ale is limited, Ringwood Best, most like, but the quality is almost always excellent. There are bottled beers, lagers, ciders, wine, soft drinks and a bewildering array of spirits.
The food is simple, in the best sense of the word, plentiful, tasty and inexpensive, Here, home-cooked is just that.
My rating is nine stars, at what it does it is perfect, there is simply nothing to compare it with.
A word of warning, if you are coming, come soon. For reasons beyond anyones control, it may not be with us much longer..........
